G and I have been big fans of each other online though we’ve never officially met (sadly). To me, he seems like a very well-rounded guy: an adventurer and a family man, an entrepreneur and a creative mind, a traveler who never lost sight of what matters most to him. So when he asked if I wanted to buy some blueberries, I immediately said yes. I love blueberries and I have been dying to meet this man.
When the day came, I knew I need to somehow make an impression on him in return of everything he has done in his life that impressed me (and a bunch others!). I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do but luckily, I had some time to spare at work during lunch to design a quick sleeve/envelope to put my money in for him:
I didn’t expect it to have such a big impact on him, but later that night we shared a number of back-and-forth post on my Facebook wall:
Though I only ended up meeting him no longer than 3 minutes, his energy was already felt. The messages we sent back and forth that night also confirmed one of the qualities that G has that made me his fan. He’s so humble and grateful. There are not tons of people out there that are genuinely humble and grateful like him and I’m beyond happy that the sleeve I made for him led to this long discussion! I seriously meant it when I told him…
You’re very lucky to be at this stage when you’re at 26! I don’t know many people that have graduated University with flying colours and mad respect from their peers, traveled the world and documented it like crazy, tirelessly working for their parents to make things better, all while improving themselves by driving hours just to take a language course, participating in as much events as they could, taking a moment to pause, reflect, and be grateful. I think you are fricken amazing and you are now just setting up the foundation for what’s to come. I don’t know how long you have to hustle for, but I know that you are and will forever be in a much better place than most of the people I know.
I’m so looking forward to the day that we meet again and have a proper conversation! There is lots for me to learn from him and I know just being near him would electrify me 🙂
