Bring on the Microcredit Challenge!

Look out everybody, Team FIERCE is coming and get you!

Kim, Dominic, Michael, and myself have just registered ourselves as Team FIERCE to the Microcredit Challenge. So what is this challenge about? It’s quite simple actually. Each team is given $100 “microloans” and a week and we can do whatever we want to create as much social change and raise as much money as possible. At the end of the week, the loan and proceeds will be contributed back to The Global Agents Catalyst Initiative. These fund will be used to help developing world entreprenuers use innovative ideas to pull themselves and their families out of poverty. Isn’t it such a wonderful thing? The Global Agents help people in poverty pull themselves out of it using their own initiative and hard work, not just waiting for donations. This is a very enriching and sustainable approach and I totally support it. This initiative was recognized with the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize.

Alright, going back to the competition, we would have to present our innovative ideas to a panel of the Global Agents Executives. The categories for awards will include: most innovative and most money raised. The challenge week is taking place from March 10 – 17, 2011.

What’s the prize? Mostly, it’s just an achievement and another thing to boost up my resume. There’s no real money or actual prize will be given out but I’m okay with that. I’m sure this experience would give me a great chance to put my creativity and other skills to the test.

So now, our team has to start think of ideas of what we can sell or do a service of. If you have any suggestions, PLEASE do let me know via twitter or comment below. We need as much as ideas as possible at this point. Please and thank you.

If you’re joining the competition, I’ll see you next week! Good luck 😉 We’ll be a tough team to beat, just fyi.
