I need you to LIKE me

I went down to check out the Lunar Festival with my mom yesterday night. It’s apparently the FIRST Lantern Aquarium in the world, I felt honoured that they would host it in Vancouver and it’s free admission!

I got in there at around 7:30 ish and there were only another 4 people in front of us waiting in line and seemed like there were more volunteers than there are visitors. That’s alright though, nothing wrong with that 🙂 The volunteers are awesome, I must say. They were very friendly and courteous. They welcomed us in to the tent, asked if we want a stamp, a tea/coffee, a lantern all before coming in. Even at that point, I was already proud about Vancouverites that have volunteered their time to be there and super hospitable.

When we came in to the tent, we were greeted by the hundreds of lanterns hung from the ceiling down and apparently they were drawn from children from Canada and Taiwan. Some of the drawing were really marvelous and I would never be able to draw as good as those ones. I quickly took out my camera and started to play the photographer. I bent and kneeled down to the ground, not minding what everyone else is doing. Who cares, I’m here to capture the beauty of the festival, not to look pretty. Afterall, I was dressed ready with my thick sweater, jeans, boots, tripod, and my second eye (my DSLR).

I spent about an hour just taking pictures of the area as much as I could, from all angles, the conventional to the weird ones. It was quite hard to take a good picture of the Paper Fantasea area as there’s not enough lighting and unfortunately they didn’t put a blue background and left the tent white. I’m not complaining though as I took it as a challenge for my photography skills. I thank you my mom for being so patient and waited for me while I took the pics.

I went home and posted the picture onto Facebook in the hope of winning the first prize of $300. I messaged my friends personally, asking for their support, and their response have been marvelous! I got 44 votes within an hour and I’m at 71 votes right now! The leading picture has 180+ votes; I don’t know how she could get that many votes but I know I can beat that. Why? My friends are awesome-er, that’s what!

So please visit http://www.facebook.com/lunarfest and LIKE that page, head over to:
and LIKE that picture. Once done, you can go ahead and UNLIKE the page.

Thank you so much in advance!
If I win, I will be donating 100% of the $$$ prize to the BC Children Hospital.

Here are some more pics that I took and was thinking of submitting, but then I saw there are other pictures that are like it have been submitted.
